Subject: Combat Vets Chapter 33-1, 7th Annual “Stand-Up Ride” Poker Run and BBQ

Date: Saturday, April 27, 2019

The Combat Vets Motorcycle Association (CVMA), Chapter 33-1, continuously endeavors to bring compassion, support and resources to the veteran community of San Diego County. Annually, our chapter is proud to host a fundraising event, the “Stand-Up Ride” (Meaning: “Standing Up for Those Who Stood Up for Us”). This annual April event has repeatedly raised both funds and awareness for our local veterans. One hundred percent of these funds are donated back into the veteran community of San Diego County through a variety of charitable organizations and direct one-to-one support of veterans in need.
This event consists of a scenic and fun motorcycle ride through the hills of the San Diego County back country. Finishing up where it started, at the Escondido Elks Lodge 1687, in Escondido. A tremendous number of gift items are offered as raffle prizes. This, as a result of the overwhelming generosity of our local area business community, and their desire to assist veterans in need. Live music is provided. Participants enjoy freshly barbecued food and beverages as they wander the vendors area. Our vendors typically offer items such as motorcycle washes, pinstriping, clothing items, motorcycle and military clothing items and jewelry, information on other Veterans Service Organizations, and more.
Now in its 7th year, the event has grown to attract upwards of 150+ motorcycles, their riders and passengers. They get a great ride and a wonderful experience. We get the tremendous satisfaction of putting on such an event. And our local Veterans charities, get the badly needed financial assistance that it takes to carry out their missions.
We invite ALL motorcyclists, riders groups, associations, clubs, lone wolves, individuals, as well as cages (cars) to come on out and help us to fulfill our mission of… “Vets Helping Vets”.
*BTW, in May of 2017, CVMA Chapter 33-1 had the honor of hosting the 2017 Combat Vets Motorcycle Association National Convention. The chapter brought their brothers and sisters from 50 states and three foreign countries here to beautiful San Diego, while again, raising funds to support the San Diego veteran community. As a result, Chapter 33-1, was pleased to donate $25,000 dollars across several San Diego based Veterans charities. Our selected recipients were Veterans Village of San Diego, North County Stand Down, Marine Semper Fi Fund and 22Kill. Additionally, special recognition and recurring donations are made to Final Honor Horse Drawn Funeral Carriage (at Miramar National Cemetery).
